Underwater Archaeology Link Exchange Nordic Underwater Archaeology - If you like history and scuba diving, this is for you. Museums The Mary Rose - The Mary Rose is the only 16th century warship on display anywhere in the world. A favorite of King Henry VIII, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology. Sydney Heritage Fleet - Australia's largest collection of operating heritage ships and boats. The Sydney Heritage Fleet's mission is to build and maintain an internationally recognized center of excellence in maritime heritage for the benefit of all Australians by presenting through research, acquisition, conservation, restoration and operation, our continuing maritime history. Long Island Maritime Museum - The Long Island Maritime Museum aims to preserve Long Island's rich maritime history and heritage for educational purposes. The site includes information about Long Island shipwrecks, educational tools, virtual tours, information about special projects, and a museum store. Door County Maritime Museum & Lighthouse Preservation Society - Home to shipbuilding from the beginning of the 20th century, Sturgeon Bay has had shipyards producing fishing trawlers, Navy vessels, ore carriers and some of the finest yachts in the world. Permanent exhibits and revolving exhibits are included in the museum galleries. Exhibits include wooden boats, model ships, pilot house and engine room, vintage outboards, canoes, and history of famous ships contracted by the US Navy. SS Shieldhall - The SS Shieldhall is a steam powered general cargo-passenger Steamer available for trips in the Solent. Built on River Clyde in1955, she is the largest remaining steam powered general cargo-passenger ship in the world, available for hire from the Solent Steam Packet Company. The site includes information on sailing programs, technical details of the ship, and a photographic tour. Biloxi Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum - The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum was established in 1986 to preserve and interpret the maritime history and heritage of Biloxi and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It accomplishes this through an array of exhibits on shrimping, oystering, recreational fishing, wetlands, managing marine resources, charter boats, marine blacksmithing, wooden boat building, net making, catboats/Biloxi skiff, shrimp peeling machine and numerous historic photographs and objects.
