The Lost City of Atlantis In the legends of lost cities, few stories have inspired the imaginations as much as the story of the lost city of Atlantis. It is a tale of an advanced civilization, with advanced architecture, a system of canals, and an empire that ruled over surrounding areas with a vast military might and system of laws.
Here are a few perspectives on the search for the lost city of Atlantis:- In Search of Atlantis -- Getting Closer Around 355 BC Plato described an
ancient, exotic island kingdom catastrophically buried beneath the sea
when its once-virtuous people angered the gods with their indulgence in
sin and corruption. The city of Atlantis was a marvel of architecture
and engineering. The city was composed of a series of concentric walls
and canals about 9000 years before the time of Plato. Plato's Atlantis: Fact, Fiction or Prophecy? Atlantis is often described as
paranormal or mythical, but is it really? In two of Plato's great works,
the Timaeus and the Critias, Plato describes an Athenian civilization in
diaglogue between Critias, Socrates, Timaeus and Hermocrates. (Predating
Plato by 9,000 years, or 9,600 BC) Atlantis, according to Critias, was a
great Athenian city which, by the hand of mankind, met with cataclysmic
destruction.
Will The Real
Atlantis Please Arise
The real site of Atlantis,
although probably an ancient subtle allusion to Gnostic beliefs, could
indeed be based upon and ancient folk memory of Mexico, which is
variously called Itlan, Otlan, Atlan, Autlan, Mazatlan, Cacatlan and
Tollan all sounding remarkably similar to Atlan-tis.
Click here for "Will the Real Atlantis Please Arise Spanish investigators have discovered Atlantis's archaeological evidences. Spanish investigators have
discovered archaeological evidences underneath the sea, near the coasts
of Gibraltar, that could belong to the Atlantic civilization described
by Plato with the name of Atlantis and that the Greek philosopher
located exactly in front of the Columns of Hercules (Straits of
Gibraltar), next to the region of Gadeira (Cadiz, Andalusia) and of the
Atlas (Morocco).
